About the Author & Illustrator

Author Deb Myers, known as Gramma to R, H, C, E, and L, treasures the moments spent with her grandchildren as one of life’s greatest joys. Deb, who is Deaf, has taught American Sign Language for over 15 years. She aspires for her books to ignite laughter, develop knowledge of conceptually-accurate signs, and foster connections between deaf and hearing family members. She and her husband make their home in Maryland.

Illustrator Julie Bourne is a creative professional who produces everything from watercolor paintings to photographs to magazine layouts to historical displays. She works in a deaf school museum during the day and illustrates cute creatures at night. Julie, who is Deaf, infuses her artwork with a deep love of language along with the joyful experiences of making connections as a deaf person. She lives in Frederick, Maryland (which serves as a major source of inspiration for Winnie’s town!), with three terrific teenagers, a black and white dog, two friendly cats, and a sweet husband.
